michelin goose

second day in Hong Kong was easy going and relaxed. started the morning bright and early in the city. first thing i noticed was probably the number of luxury brands i saw and the cute trams. i saw many cool buildings. this was possibly my favorite.

;

with my cousin guiding my mother and i, we used their mrt to get to the city center. compared to other ones ive been on, it weighed out to be similar. clean, simple and convenient

;

after walking around for a while, we visited a supermarket to use the restroom and grab some groceries. it reminded me of the asian supermarkets in US (from what i remember) as they had a ton of non consumables too, like pans, rice cookers, and luggage. they had a rather large middle setion of snacks on sale. of course i had to grab a few.

;

afterwards we walked through a narrow sloping street full of street stalls.

for lunch i heading with my mom and cousin to a michelin restaurant. this isn’t some fancy high-end restaurant, but a fast paced and affordable one. we had to line up for at least 35 minutes before we could get a seat. it was raining, but that didnt deter anyone from lining up here. as the restaurant is small, they cram as many people as they can at once meaning that you may end up sharing a table with others. the menu is simple making is quick to decide. the lady took our order and the food came very quickly, possibly within seconds. i ordered the michelin goose in noodle soup with pork. the other two got the same but over rice.

;

it was very good. the goose was roasted just right, juicy inside crispy outside. the soup and noodles were flavorful, but rather ordinary. i guess that just makes the meat standout more.

with the rate of people coming in and out high and the staff always bussling around ordering, delivering and cleaning, it was a busy environment. my mom and cousin finished their dish before me and the lady cleaned it up before i finished. this made me feel rushed to finish and the lady saw it and told me to not rush or worry lol

it felt like we were in and out within 15 minutes.

;

in the evening, i had some of the snacks i got earlier. the first one was this ‘cake’. i remeber eating these as a child and loving them. essentially it is deep-fried flour coated in sugar. it sounds similar to a donut or churro, but the texture is not like cake or bread. it’s slightly crispy and chewy.

;

the other is one my mom picked. i belive they were egg rolls filled with pork floss. it was sweet and savory, but quite heavy. we bought an extra pack to take back with us, but forgot we can’t bring pork products back to Taiwan. oopsies
