This was another slow morning. Mother and I grabbed brunch in the cafe in the apartment complex we’re staying at. This apartment complex is one of the newly built ones and is very grand. Everytime I walk in I feel like I’m in a hotel. There are a few residental benefits including a gym and a cafe which is only open on the weekend. The menu is quite simple with tea, coffee, toasts and waffles. I opted for a waffle with strawberry jam and a latte. The complex has a pond and greenery in the middle which was really nice to look at while enjoying my brunch.

With nothing planned for the day, I just relaxed.
For dinner, our relatives invited us out for dinner and we went to a Japanese restaurant.

I really enjoyed everything ordered. Japanese food has always been a favorite of mine as there are a few similarities with Taiwanese food. Everything was cooked to perfection and very tasty. In the restaurant, you could see the chefs making sushi and grilling the sticks. It all smelled amazing. The grilled foods had a nice smoky/grill taste to them and the fried foods were Japanese style, meaning that it was lighter and crispy as they use a different kind of coating/batter than western deep fried goods. Theirs does not absorb as much oil. The soups and veg were cooked and seasoned well. 8.5/10

This is lychee. This fruit is one of the common fruits in Taiwan. The outside shell/skin is spiky but still holdable. The fruit inside is almost a transparent white. A more common fruit that I would say has a similar texture would be a grape, but it isn’t quite exactly like a grape. It is not super juicy and has a nice sweetness. 8/10
Below is a dessert bought from a street vendor, tanghulu. It is fruit on a skewer that is thinly covered in a layer of sugar. This is quite a nice snack/dessert. Juicy fruit with a sweet crunch. The ones tried are tomato, tomato and plum, and a grape one. They were all great, however the plum was more of a dried plum, which is not what I was expecting. They come individually wrapped as otherwise they would stick to everything. 7/10
