train bento

After school I headed home and caught a train that evening with my mother to head to Hualien for the weekend.

For the train ride, we bought Taiwanese bento boxes and vending machine drinks as we both had not had a meal yet.

The ones we chose we very similar. Rice on the bottom with some veg, Taiwanese sausage, tofu, and fried chicken filet on top. This is pretty good for what it is. The shop also already has them packed and priced, with the receipt stuck on them. In Taiwan, the governement encourages everyone to get receipts for what they buy to try and minimize businesses not reporting sales accurately. To do this, every receipt issued has a number entered into a lottery that is drawn every two months, hence, why the receipts are already stuck on the bento boxes. For ease and the lottery.

The drinks we got were peach juice and grape soda.
